Hey guys,
Coming back at ya today with another portfolio update. The market has been wonderful lately – there seems to be no top in sight with the S&P rising almost another percentage point today. My Roth IRA is no exception! I’m pushing $55,000 for the first time all year.

Let’s see how my portfolio is doing in comparison to the market:
- S&P 500 from January 4th – August 27th: +22.07% ((413.86 – 339.03) / 339.03) x 100
- My portfolio from Jan 4th – August 27th: +21.39% ((54,947.72 – 6,000 – 828.01) – 39,641.18) / 39,641.18 x 100

I’m catching back up – I’m within 0.7% of the market return and have outpaced the market’s gains in the last month.

I recently celebrated a birthday. One thing about birthdays as I get older is they become less important to me – so much so that I often have no clue what I want when it gets close to that time and people end up getting me things that I definitely don’t want. Low maintenance people problems? What more could I need?
Over the last few years I’ve started making a list of things that I’m interested in getting every time something pops into my head. This year, I had a list of things ready to give friends and family when they asked what I wanted for my birthday. It’s still not a really big list, but at least I had something prepared.
I’m doing something similar to prep for next year’s stock portfolio. I’ve created a list that I’ve been adding to year-round of stocks that I’m interested in potentially adding to my portfolio in each of its five categories. I want to share the list with you guys.
To be clear, I have not decided for certain that these will be added to next year’s portfolio, but I want to share my thought process & stock list to you guys in case it gives you new ideas.
